Mount Cook Helicopter Price
What a Mount Cook helicopter flight costs, from a 25-minute flight with an alpine landing to the 55-minute flight and the heli hikes, what the extra money buys, and the operators' own NZ$ prices.
A Mount Cook helicopter flight costs from US$194 a person for INFLITE Mt Cook Ski Planes & Helicopters’ 25-minute flight with an alpine landing (checked November 2026); on every date we read it was US$210.29. A landing on the Tasman Glacier itself starts with its ski plane and helicopter flight, from US$277, and the two 3-hour heli hikes are from US$552. For a first flight the 25-minute one is the price to beat. Pay more if you want snow underfoot in summer, or time to walk on the ice.
The calendar above is the 25-minute flight’s. Each trip below links to its own.
Every trip by price
GetYourGuide from-prices a person, checked November 2026; Viator from-prices checked November 2026. A from-price is the lowest the calendar can show; the date you pick decides the rest.
What the extra money buys

Four things, roughly in this order.
A longer flight. The 25 to 30-minute flights stay close, over the Tasman Valley, the lower Tasman Glacier or the Ben Ohau Range, with a landing in the mountains. At 40 to 45 minutes you reach the upper Tasman Glacier and the Hochstetter Icefall on Aoraki. The 55-minute flight crosses the Main Divide to the Franz Josef and Fox glaciers on the West Coast and back.
Snow underfoot. An alpine landing is on a mountain site; in INFLITE Mt Cook Ski Planes & Helicopters’ definition, a glacier landing “is directly on the glacier itself and offers more guarantees all year-round to set foot on snow”. In summer that difference can decide the trip: on the 25-minute flight snow cannot be guaranteed all year round.
A ski plane. INFLITE’s combo flies you one way in a ski plane and the other in a helicopter, landing on the upper snowfields of the Tasman Glacier. Ski plane or helicopter explains the difference.
Time on the ice. The heli hikes cost the most because they give you up to 2 hours walking on the glacier with a guide, boots and crampons. The Tasman Glacier heli hike compares the two.
INFLITE’s flights, date by date
Both INFLITE flights on GetYourGuide showed a higher price than their from-price on every date we read: 27 November 2026 and 20 January, 10 March, 12 May and 14 July 2027.
- 25-minute flight with an alpine landing: from US$194 on the calendar, US$210.29 a person on all five dates.
- Ski plane and helicopter combo, 45 minutes: from US$277 on the calendar, US$332.36 a person on all five dates.
Option prices checked on GetYourGuide in November 2026; two adults paid twice the one-adult price.
The two heli hikes, by contrast, were US$552.08 a person on the dates we read, the same as their from-price.

The operators’ own prices
Booked direct, the operators charge in New Zealand dollars, so what you pay against the US dollar figures above depends on the exchange rate. As displayed on their own sites in November 2026:
- INFLITE Mt Cook Ski Planes & Helicopters: Tasman Taster, a 25-minute helicopter flight with an alpine landing, NZ$379; Tasman Discovery, a 25-minute ski plane flight with a snow landing on the Tasman Glacier, NZ$449; Ultimate Alpine Experience, 45 minutes by ski plane and helicopter, NZ$599 for an adult and NZ$499 for a child (0 to 12); Glacier Highlights, 45 minutes, NZ$699; The Grand Circle, 55 minutes, NZ$799. Its direct bookings are refunded in full when cancelled at least 48 hours before check-in.
- Alpine Guides (Aoraki): its Tasman Glacier heli hike, NZ$995 a person from 1 October 2026, with a minimum of 4 people per helicopter load.
A booking made on GetYourGuide or Viator follows that platform’s price and terms, not the operator’s.
